P-02 · PPKK Port & Harbourmaster Clearance Bali

PPKK Yacht Clearance Bali

Harbourmaster clearance at Benoa and every port beyond — arrival, movement between islands and departure, with the port formalities handled on your behalf.

Every time your yacht enters, shifts or leaves an Indonesian port, the harbourmaster expects to see her papers in order.

Port clearance — the PPKK, granted through the syahbandar or harbourmaster’s office — is the running record of your vessel’s lawful movement through Indonesian waters. It is required on arrival at your first port, again each time you move between ports, and once more when you finally clear out of the country. At Benoa, Bali’s principal yacht gateway, and at the smaller harbours beyond, we present your documents, complete the formalities and keep your clearance current, so the vessel is never caught between ports without the authority to move.

01

Clearance at Benoa and beyond

Benoa is the natural point of arrival for most yachts cruising to Bali, and its harbourmaster’s office is where your inbound clearance is completed. Yet the obligation does not end there: each subsequent port — whether Lombok, the Gili islands, Komodo or further east — has its own syahbandar who will expect to log your arrival and grant clearance to depart. We manage the paperwork at Benoa and coordinate the onward clearances, so your itinerary flows without a stalled formality.

02

Arrival, movement and departure

Indonesian port procedure treats a yacht’s voyage as a sequence of cleared legs. You clear in on arrival, obtain a port clearance — often called a sailing approval — before moving to the next harbour, and clear out formally when leaving Indonesian waters. A missing link in that chain is what strands crews at the dock. We keep every leg documented and lodged in good time, so your vessel always holds the current authority to sail.

What the Harbourmaster Needs

Port documents

Port clearance rests on a familiar set of papers — we prepare and present them at each office.

Cruising permit (CAIT)

The vessel’s approval to be in Indonesian territory, presented alongside every port clearance.

Crew & passenger list

A current manifest of everyone aboard, matched to their passports and entry visas.

Previous port clearance

The sailing approval issued at your last harbour, which the next syahbandar records on arrival.

Vessel registration papers

Certificate of registry and particulars confirming the yacht’s identity and flag.

Individual harbours occasionally ask for additional detail — we anticipate local requirements so nothing delays your departure.

Good to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Do we need clearance every time we change port?

Yes. Indonesian procedure requires a fresh port clearance each time you move between harbours — you obtain a sailing approval before departing one port and it is recorded when you arrive at the next. We keep this chain of clearances current for your whole itinerary.

Can you clear us in at Benoa before we arrive?

We prepare everything ahead of time and complete the arrival formalities at the Benoa harbourmaster’s office once you make port. Sending your papers and dates in advance means the clearance moves quickly rather than starting from scratch at the dock.

What if we want to add a port to our route?

Let us know as early as you can. Additional harbours can be built into your clearance plan, but each one needs its own syahbandar formality, so a little notice keeps your onward movement smooth.
